Marie Osmond Dancing With The Stars

Marie Osmond on the Nutrisystem Program

Marie Osmond Nutrisystem

Marie Osmond faints on Dancing With The Stars. It's been all over the news and on late night talk shows. Poor Marie, we hope she's okay. There has been much speculation about what happened and many jokes made. Some people think it has to do with her current weight loss and that she is starving herself causing her to faint.

In a ExtraTv interview Marie Osmond said this:
“First of all, I can't be anorexic. I like food too much,” she blasts. “I'm not on diet pills. And I have to tell you, honestly, with Nutrisystem you eat all the time.”

According to Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts it does not have to do with any diet or diet pills. They both feel it is from allergies and the poor air quality caused by the L.A. fires.

MARIE OSMOND WEIGHT LOSS

Marie Osmond decided this past Christmas she was a little overweight and it was time to do something about it. So she decided to start dieting and get back in shape by signing up with the program "Choose to Move," and then she went on NutriSystem. She has started to lose weight with the Nutrisystem Program and another great opportunity came up for her which should also help to her to shed some pounds. She will be one of the celebrity dancers on the next season of Dancing With The Stars.

This year's 12 contestants are Seymour, super model Albert Reed, Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, actress-model Josie Maran, king of Las Vegas Wayne Newton, entertainer Marie Osmond, boxer Floyd Mayweather, Spice Girl Melanie Brown, racing champ Helio Castroneves, actress Jenni Garth, and actor Cameron Mathison. The show debuts Sept. 24 on ABC with Dolly Parton as the musical guest.

On a previous episode of Dancing With The Stars Joey Fatone found The Nutrisystem Program helpful with losing weight. Nutrisystem and Dancing With The Stars combination has been successful for Marie Osmond and Joey Fatone in the weight loss battle. Who will be next to use this powerful duo?

Dan Marino Contest Winner

Nutrisystem Dan Marino Contest

Nutrisystem Winner

There were 11 winners. Ten winners each won an authentic Dan Marino football jersey and a football autographed by Dan himself.

Below is part of an interview with the grand prize winner who won a fabulous all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Big Game on February 4th in Miami AND the opportunity to meet with Dan himself? Ken J. who lost 86 lbs. and, with his wife Connie, were treated to the trip of a lifetime!

Interview with a Winner

NutriSystem caught up with Ken after his whirlwind weekend to discuss meeting Dan, attending the Bears-Colts game, and living lighter.

NS: What was your reaction to winning the Lose to Win promotion?

Ken: To tell you the truth, I was speechless, although I'm sure I probably repeated "I can't believe this! This is awesome!" over and over a couple of dozen times. I had to call NutriSystem back to get more of the details after I called my wife and caught my breath.

NS: What was it like meeting Dan Marino in person?

Ken: Well, on Friday we attended a party at Nikki Beach, which is an exclusive club on South Beach. The party was hosted by Dan, and it's where we met him and chatted with him. Dan Marino is a very easy person to talk to. We talked about Rochester [the area where Ken and Connie live] and how it is a great Italian town and how well we both did on NutriSystem. I mentioned how great it must be to have the Super Bowl in Miami, at the stadium where he played the majority of his career. He agreed it was great, except it made him extremely busy! We posed for quite a few photos, too. It all seemed to pass too quickly—but it was certainly an experience I won't ever forget!

One thing that sticks in my mind, too, is that he seemed genuinely concerned that Connie and I were having a good time. I'm thinking, here I am at an exclusive night club, meeting one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Of course I'm having the time of my life!

NS: Did you enjoy the game despite the weather?

Ken: You bet. On Sunday, Connie and I found some raincoats and headed to the game about 1 p.m. We went in and caught part of the pregame telecast live from the NFL Experience. We bought some souvenirs and found our seats. Being a Steelers fan, I was planning on rooting for the Colts, but we were sitting with a bunch of Bears fans. So I decided it would be safer to cheer all the good plays, regardless which side they came from!

The Super Bowl is an event that, regardless of the teams, is an experience that every football fan should see once in their lifetime. The pregame, the famous people and all the ceremony that is part of the experience is all worth it. The rain was a distraction, but for a chance to see another Super Bowl, I would sit through the rain every time!

NS: How about the rest of your trip to Miami?

Ken: Miami is a great city and South Beach is awesome, especially for a people watcher like me. Saturday, we met up with folks from NutriSystem at a private party on South Beach. It was a very nice affair and where I got to meet Jim Stuckey and his wife. Jim, like Dan, was a very easy person to talk to. We talked about how well we both have done losing weight with NutriSystem and how much fun Connie and I were having in Miami. Afterward, Connie and I took a walk down Ocean Drive.

NS: So, did losing the weight make it easier for you to enjoy yourself in Miami, then?

Ken: This is probably the easiest question for me to answer. After losing the weight, everything is easier! Obviously meeting Dan Marino and Jim Stuckey, and going to the game made for an extremely unforgettable trip. But I knew we would have some down time, too—not to mention, we had decided to extend our stay in Florida by another week. So I was really looking forward to using the extra time to get outside for a run. While we were in Florida I was able to run over 25 miles! I hated to come home to the treadmill. Fortunately, I am participating in my first triathlon in June and have registered for the Chicago Marathon in October.

Plus, I used to hate flying. I had always thought it was a fear of flying, but since losing the weight, I realized that it had nothing to do with flying—it had to do with being squeezed into a seat surrounded by people. I guess maybe you could call it claustrophobia, but whatever it was, flying is much more pleasant now that I'm thinner.

All of this is something I couldn't even comprehend a year ago. I started NutriSystem the day after the Super Bowl last year. If someone had said then, while I was watching my Steelers win the big game, that a year from now I would have run in five 5Ks and a 10K, and would be registered for a triathlon and a marathon—let alone going to the Super Bowl, meeting Dan Marino and being a part of Dan's team—I would have suggested drug testing. The discipline that I have learned from the NutriSystem plan is incredible.

NS: Any final words?

Ken: Connie and I are extremely grateful for the trip and every thing that went along with it. But more importantly, I thank NutriSystem for showing me how to lead a healthy lifestyle—this is a lesson that will last a lifetime!

Dan Marino Scores Big With NutriSystem!
Football legend loses weight with The Nutrisystem Men's Program
by Nutrisystem Staff

Dan Marino Nutrisystem For Men

Guess who's become the next great NutriSystem success story—Hall of Fame Quarterback Dan Marino! Yes, after years of leading the Miami Dolphins past the goal line, Marino has now led himself to his own personal weight loss goal—and scored big time. Having lost 22 lbs.* this past summer, Dan is now back in top form and ready to help other potential NutriSystem clients lose weight and get back in the game.

After retiring from a career in professional football, Marino says he had started to gain some weight. No longer training like he did in his pro years, the football legend found his weight heading upwards. Complicating matters were the unique pressures of his second career as a TV football analyst. Dan needed to look his best in front of the cameras, yet every year he says it seemed harder and harder to keep the weight off and look good on TV—an important part of his new job. So before starting this season he turned to the NEW NutriSystem For Men program to lose the weight.

"I was used to being watched by millions of people, but being a TV analyst was a whole lot different than being on the field. In my new job I couldn't hide behind a helmet and pads. To be the best I could be in my career, I wanted to look my best. So I turned to NutriSystem, and boy, am I glad I did. I lost 22 lbs.* on the program and man do I feel great. Now I can keep up with my children, career and the fast pace of the football season. NutriSystem was the best—and easiest—way to lose those extra pounds."

Marino used the NEW NutriSystem For Men program, designed by NutriSystem in response to the growing need for a simple weight loss solution for guys. In America today, nearly 70% of all men over 35 are overweight or obese, so NutriSystem has created unique programs to meet their needs.

"Hey, just because I'm 44 years old doesn't mean that I've lost the desire to live life to the fullest, " Marino quips. "I admit it. I wanted to look better and feel better than I had since retiring, and NutriSystem helped me reach that goal. If you know me, you know I hate to lose. But this time losing never felt so good."

"The greatest thing was seeing the weight drop off," he notes. "I'm a competitive guy by nature, so seeing those pounds fall off my body got me even more excited about that program. And it made me even more determined to reach my goal. Initially, that was getting 20 lbs. down—but I got to 22*. My wife loves the way I look and all my family is amazed at how much younger I seem. I even have a new nickname—my friends are calling me 'Skinny.' I don't think anyone has ever called me that."

Lose to Win with Dan Marino and NutriSystem Contest
(Contest Ended 1-1-07)

Dan goes on to say, "I've also turned my sister on to the program and she lost weight. My agent also lost about 20 lbs.* And even my wife went on the program with me and lost 10 lbs.* (even though she didn't really need to lose any weight). But that's what's so exciting about NutriSystem—it's real results for real people."

So what's the winning call from this all-pro quarterback? "Starting NutriSystem was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I haven't been this light since I started playing pro football back in 1983, and it was so easy to do."

Manning and Manning-Can Either Brother Win the Big One?
By: Paul Mrocza

It was just over a year ago, after the Colts lost to the Pats in their post-season contest, that Boomer Esiason said on national television, "I think maybe Peyton (Manning) is this generation's Dan Marino." Esiason went on to state that Manning "is a great football player, but he's not going to get to the Super Bowl, I'm telling you, not with that defense."

Marino, who was on the set, took umbrage at the reference and shot back, "Oh, wait a minute. I got to a Super Bowl." Marino made a good point, but still, Esiason seemed to be on target by not blaming either quarterback for their failings but, rather, the guys on the other side of the ball-their weak defenses.

Fast forward to January 15, 2006, almost exactly a year to the date that Esiason made his comments. What was different this time for Peyton Manning and the Colts? The Colts seemed to have the full package-a great running and passing attack, a solid offensive line, and a fine defense. Everything was aligned for Manning-Mania to take full effect, especially after such a spectacular regular season.

But once again, under the glare of the national spotlight, in a huge playoff game, and under the kind of pressure he had rarely seen all season, Peyton Manning crumbled. This latest derailment of the Colt’s Super Bowl Express drew a barrage of disparaging comments from many writers and commentators, including the NY Times’ William C. Rhoden. Two days after the loss, Rhoden dubbed Manning "the king of statistics but the prince of NFL quarterbacks" in that although he can generate statistics, he may be incapable of closing the deal and ever bringing a championship to Indianapolis.

No matter how much you respect Peyton Manning and his amazing regular season performances, it’s difficult to argue with the facts. In eight seasons the Colt QB has led his team to the playoffs six times where he is 3-6. In those nine games he’s hit for 15 TDs, while throwing 8 INTs and being sacked 13 times. There are quarterbacks, most recently Tom Brady, who usually manage to rise to the occasion in the big game, ably dealing with a panoply of adversity. And then there are those like Manning, usually able to run like finely tuned, precision machines, which means when everything is copacetic they hum along but let something like a blitz throw off their rhythm and they breakdown.

Some people point out that maybe he has too much control over the offense, constantly changing and adjusting plays at the line of scrimmage, and when things go awry it’s almost impossible for Manning to adapt. Others claim that he simply can’t handle the pressure of a big game situation. Some blame others on the team. After losing to the Steelers this post-season, Peyton Manning did something he’s never done before; point the finger at his teammates.

Then there’s Peyton’s younger brother Eli, who just finished his second NFL season and his first professional post-season. Against the Carolina Panthers Eli Manning completed 10 of 18 passes, threw three interceptions, was sacked four times and lost one fumble as the Giants were humbled by their opponents 23 to zip. At one point in the game it seemed as if Eli Manning thought his job was to get the ball to the Panthers as boos echoed throughout Giants Stadium and fans hustled for the exits.

Coolness under pressure-is this a Manning characteristic? Or do Peyton and Eli share some sort of panic gene? For Eli it’s simply too early to tell and with Peyton, there’s still time left to turn the tide.

Perhaps one should ask, "What would dad and former NFL QB Archie Manning do?" There’s no answer to that question-in 15 NFL seasons Archie never came close to making it to the playoffs.

Time will tell what the true legacy of the Manning brothers will be. Dan Marino-Move over?

Father Loses Weight - Nutrisystem Men

Nutrisystem Works For Men

Rx for Weight Loss Success

Father of 3 loses 60 lbs.*, gains family time

Being a pharmacist, I really enjoy people and helping them to live better lives. So I have a great interest in health and nutrition, especially as they relate to chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. I also enjoy biking, running, sports of all types (especially football and baseball), and family activities such as swimming, skiing and badminton.

Nutrisystem For Men

But that wasn't always the case.

I have struggled with weight as long as I can remember. In grade school, I was always the "husky" one. Thank goodness I was always a bit athletic or things would have been a lot worse. I must have been on 50 diets as a teenager. Nothing worked long-term. This really did a number on my self-confidence. After college, I began to gain weight more rapidly because my lifestyle became more sedentary because I was working seven 12-hour days per week—not a lot of fun. This didn't leave me a lot of time for exercise, and eating on the job was just whatever and whenever: nothing good and always too fast. I tried every fad diet along the way, but nothing lead to long-term success or happiness.

Being heavy took quite an emotional toll on me. Continued diet failures only lead to more frustration, denial and dislike for myself. And not being able to do the things with my kids that I wanted to do at age 25 or 30 was quite devastating. It was just too painful and taxing to play any type of outside sports with them. I was content to always say, "Let's just watch a movie." It was disappointing to them, devastating to me.

Finally, after going to the doctor for the "I just don't feel right" checkup and being told that my cholesterol was dangerously high and my blood pressure was in the red zone, and that if I didn't change my ways I would most likely become diabetic and be a good candidate for an early heart attack or stroke, I decided to educate myself and lose the weight. (As you can tell, health care practitioners do not always make the best patients.) Plus, as a pharmacist, I preached the right things to my patients every day, but I was not living by the same message. I had to stop and call myself a hypocrite. It was time to change.

Hi, I'm Mark, a 37-year-old husband and father living in Texas. I've been married to my wonderful wife Allyson for 16½ years, and I have 3 kids (Hunter, 15, Margaux, 10, and Layla, 9 months). This is my weight-loss story.

I did the research, and NutriSystem was the easiest and most practical solution for me. The cost was in line with what I wanted to spend, and the other programs of this sort seemed to cater only to women. Plus, the program fits perfectly in my lifestyle, especially the convenience of the meals. Being able to pop a lunch or dinner in the microwave and add a few simple side dishes makes this so simple to follow and easy stick to.

I like everything about the NutriSystem program, but especially the food and the website. The foods are wonderful (I especially like the Tender Beef with Vegetables, Minestrone Soup, Chicken Cacciatore, Tacos, Cheese Pizza, and Sloppy Joes), and the website is a great source for information and encouragement. I love to read everyone's comments on the bulletin boards. I got a lot of great ideas and received a ton of inspiration from that. All in all, the program worked great for me: I've lost 60 lbs.* so far!

The results have literally been life-changing for not only me, but for my family and for all the patients that I come in contact with. In fact, not a day goes by that I don't get a comment from someone about how much better I look and how happy they are for me. And my family has been a tremendous support to me. Allyson even enrolled in the NutriSystem program to support me, and to lose the last little baby fat from her most recent pregnancy. She was able to lose 15 pounds*! We are also applying the same healthy principles to our kids' food choices and exercise routines. They have adapted to our new, healthy eating and exercise lifestyle with very few complaints at all. What a difference it has made in them, especially in my son Hunter.

And as I mentioned earlier, I love outdoor activities, so a whole new world has opened up for me. In my late 20's, any outdoor activity was incredibly difficult. Baseball, basketball and biking were out of the question and any activity was uncomfortable. Today, I can compete (at least in my mind) with my 15-year-old son, I can ride my bicycle 100 miles at a time, and I can run a 5K in under 27 minutes. I am able to compete in sports again, and can do things with my kids without being miserable all the time. It has added a whole new dimension to our lives. As I said, a whole new world. I could not have imagined this 10 years ago.

The most challenging part of my weight-loss journey was getting started. I wish I would have done this years ago and that it would not have taken a scare at the doctor's office to shock me into reality. And, in addition to the support of my family and friends, watching others around me change their lifestyles because of what I have done is extremely rewarding. Through my success, I have motivated several co-workers and many friends to give NutriSystem a try. Many of them are having great results.

At this point, I am full of life. I am living life to its ultimate potential. I feel as if I can do anything that I want or be anything that I want to be. If nothing else, I have set an example for my family, so that my kids will never have to suffer the problems of being overweight and unhealthy. I love the new life I have. I think my wife would agree, too! I will never allow myself to go back to that old life.

I set my goal weight initially at 180 pounds. As of today, I am down to 184 lbs. I have no intentions of stopping what I am doing. I know that when my body reaches the point at which it should be, I will stop losing weight. From that point forward it will just be maintenance, since NutriSystem has definitely prepared me for a long life of healthy eating by teaching me about portion control, low-glycemic foods and variety. In addition, I have tried to incorporate exercises that I will be able to do the rest of my life, as well as a variety of activities that are fun for me and my family.

Anyone who is struggling with weight should give NutriSystem a try. The program is extremely easy to follow and will give you all the support that you need or want. This program leaves no guesswork.

I would like to thank NutriSystem for what they have done for my life. This program has been the launching pad to my new and improved life and to better health. Thank you, NutriSystem, for being there!

—Mark

Jean - Over 60 Women's Diet

Nutrisystem Success Story - Jean Over 60 Woman

Rooted in a Healthier Life: Jean's Story

66-year-old grandmother loses 93 lbs.*

I grew up on a farm in Southeast Iowa. We raised dairy cattle, beef cattle, hogs, and chickens and grew most of our own fruits and vegetables. Dad also grew wheat, oats, corn, and beans. Mom canned a lot and froze a lot. We only went to town once a week or sometimes only once every two weeks. Mom would buy staples, like sugar, flour and seasonings at the grocery store. I would take the money I had to spend and go to the dime store and buy a bag of candy and sit in the park and eat it all. I looked forward to buying my bag of candy.

I was slim during my childhood (even though one of my favorite meals was fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy). In the summer, we did eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, including tomatoes from the garden, and in the winter we ate a lot of canned tomatoes that mom thickened with flour. Lard from butchered hogs was used in cooking and we made our own butter and then later bought it from the creamery we sold our cream to. So, as you can see, I grew up eating totally different than many people do now.

Hi, I'm Jean ("grannyroots" on the NutriSystem boards), a 66-year-old former eighth-grade science teacher and stay-at-home mom. I have been married to my husband Richard for 40 years, and have two daughters and two grandsons. I love being outside in my yard flower gardening and taking digital pictures of the birds and flowers in my yard. I am actively involved in my church and am currently writing a book about it, and I run my own website. This is my weight-loss story.

As a child and teenager I was of normal weight. I did not develop a weight problem until I had my daughters and had 20 pounds to lose. The program I used to lose that weight taught you to think of the things you should not eat as "illegal." That wasn't a good idea. After I had lost the weight and I could eat the "illegal" foods, I overate them and ballooned up to 60 pounds overweight. Worse, I developed a craving for sweets. I would call myself a sugarholic. By the end of 2004, I found myself weighing my heaviest ever—239 lbs. (I'm 5'4").

Worse, I started developing health issues, which were at least in part due to my weight. I had two knee replacements five years ago; I am sure being 90+ pounds overweight increased my problems with my knees. Then in February 2005, I discovered that I had a fatty liver and was on the verge of a liver problem called NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis).

Plus, at around the same time, my husband Richard was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease—so I knew I had to be healthy in order to take care of him when he got worse. As you can see, I had many vital reasons why I needed to get the weight off.

That's when I started NutriSystem—the only weight loss plan that worked for me. It took me 16 months, and in May of 2006 I reached my goal of 93 lbs.* lost.

I found some things to be challenging along the way: getting all my vegetables in, being prepared when I ate out, and handling the times I really wanted to binge (and maybe did). But the program made it easier. Having food that you can take with you and being able to prepare the food quickly was wonderful. I usually never leave the house to go shopping or to a meeting without at least some of these items: yogurt, a NutriSystem dessert, fruit and water. (I usually eat something every couple hours as I have some trouble with blood sugar dropping.) I also use the bulletin board, read the Daily Dose and like to read the profiles.

My family has been very supportive, too. In fact, my daughter and grandsons have sent me notes of encouragement from time to time like "Great job" or "We are proud of you." The most recent was at Easter when my oldest grandson walked in the house and handed me a huge rabbit and balloon congratulating me on my weight loss.

It was all so worth it, as it is quite rewarding to look at myself in the mirror and like what I see—and feel much better about myself. Also, I like the positive comments I get and being treated nicer by people I meet. When you are overweight and middle-aged, you are not always treated well. But when you are at your normal weight and looking more attractive, you receive a lot more respect. People treat you better and are more likely to treat you as an intelligent human being. For example, when I'm out buying clothes and tell the clerks I have lost 93 pounds*, they at first are surprised and then I usually get asked a lot of questions about NutriSystem.

More important, my health is much better now. At my last checkup with the liver specialist, I was told if I maintain my weight loss I would not be at risk anymore for NASH, but if I put the weight back on the risk would return.

In addition, it's much easier for me to bend over to work in my flowerbeds. Since I can no longer get down on my knees to garden due to my knee replacements, I must bend over to garden. Two years ago, I would have had to quit after about twenty minutes, go in the house and lie down because my lower back would hurt so badly. Now I can bend over much better and without my lower back hurting and, when needed, can even get on the ground. Best of all, I know that as long as I maintain my weight loss, I will stay healthy and be able to stay active for a much longer time. My flower garden beckons!

I've also had some funny experiences because of my weight loss. I've been asked several times if I have had plastic surgery to get rid of the excess flab around the middle, which makes me smile. Also, I was talking to a relative of my husband's who had not seen me in two years, and she kept commenting on my new hairstyle. She kept looking at me as if she was trying to figure out what was different. After about the third compliment on my hair, I shared I had lost 93 pounds* since she last saw me. Her reply: "I knew something was different!"

I've learned a lot from NutriSystem, which will help me maintain my weight loss. I try to eat right and eat smaller portions, and also exercise more. If I have a bad day or two, I have learned to get back to eating right as quickly as possible. To increase my activity level, I walk more and I am doing stomach-toning exercises (and should have started them sooner). I am also eating some different foods now and I have learned that if you restrict how much you eat of a food that you crave, you will get over the craving and still not totally fall off the wagon.

My best advice to others would be that if you think too far ahead, it may be too big of a challenge—but taking one day at a time is not. Also, enter the program with the idea that you are going to make some permanent changes in your eating habits and are not just getting the weight off and then planning to go back to your old eating habits. My journey was sixteen months and if you take it one day at a time, you will make it, too.

—Jean
