Here’s my story. I had just turned 57 and was frankly disgusted with the fact that I was facing my 60s as a “fat, old woman.” Growing up in the south with a fat grandmother, an overweight mother, and heavy aunts, I just thought that old women were always fat! It finally dawned on me that Jane Fonda and Goldie Hawn and others were over 60 and still gorgeous and thin, so why couldn’t that be me? Those women became my new role models, not the heavy women of my childhood memories.
